I have been working on it for a day and thought I was going to have to re-install everything. Windows 10 will install no differently than Windows 8.1 or older. Please ask if you need any more help. I then rebooted and all was OK.

If the programs you can't open are actually the program's exe file download the "EXE File Association Fix" at the link below.
